David and I had a date night that included going to the movie theater. We hardly ever go, so this was a special treat. How special? Here is what accompanied our special movie date to see Mission Impossible: coke, cookie dough bites, and popcorn. Yeah… we both decided as we walked out that all that seemed like a fun idea while we ate it then the later it got the worse we felt haha! But hey it was worth the splurge! So to recover… a green smoothie, packed with vitamins, protein, minerals, and all other good things in smoothie form 🙂 Now I have heard about the Green Monster… thanks to the Oh She Glows blog. She has so many delicious recipes… Even basic ones to ease you into drinking them! Check her out!
-2 cups of spinach
-2 tablespoons of raw oats
-1 cup almond milk
-1 cup of frozen blueberries (plus a little- 160 grams)
-1/4 teaspoon spirulina (Optional- found here. Small amount goes far, trust me!)
-2 to 3 ice cubes
-Splash of water**
*If eggs weird you out, just be sure to get in some sort of protein or you will have that “I think I swallowed a rock” feeling in your stomach. I was out of protein powder and had to improvise with eggs and oats 🙂
**Give it a spin in the blender and if you want it thinner, add the splash.
Friday night– Gymnastics Meet (front row view thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Ballard!).
Saturday morning– Breakfast date at Heritage House accompanied by new books.
Saturday evening– Date night at the movie theater. Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol
Sunday morning– Sunday school with my favorite bunch of girls! Planning another trip to a gymnastics meet 🙂 They have grown way too much in a year!!
Sunday lunch– Leftovers for lunch then a CrossFit WOD and yoga (ahhh… a wonderful class!)
Sunday afternoon– Made almond milk and dried fruit and nut bites (recipe here then I tweaked it, post coming later) rolled in chia seeds. Think Larabars but you make them!
What a weekend… and the cool thing… we have today off too! So technically I have one day left in the weekend. Woohoo! I have 3 things on my list for today… other than that I will enjoy lunch with a friend, hit the gym for CrossFit, and then a run. Speaking of running- Leanne and I will take a run at a race coming up in February! Another half marathon 🙂
