8 hours left

I have 8 hours left in NYC! I’ve seen a lot… Done a lot.. And eaten a lot! Successful trip!

The work portion of the trip… Present research (mine dealing with social media usage before and after 4-27-11 Tuscaloosa tornado) at the International Geography Conference (AAG)! Fun stuff πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to share about the trip… Last thing I’ll do in the morning before catching the Super Shuttle… Eat a bagel… NYC style!

But for now… Sleepy time tea and some much needed rest!

Sweet macaron (2 visits to Dean & Deluca’s!!!!) dreams πŸ˜‰

Reporting from the top (27th floor!) of NYC,

P.S. I know it’s not the highest point in the city but it feels like it!

New Look…

New look same great taste… I am talking about my morning smoothies. I got a new bowl that I am SO excited about. It is the little things right πŸ™‚ Enter my red (also got a green apple color) bowl.

You see this funky shaped bowl is actually a SalsaBol! After reading about the purpose of the bowl (who can’t relate to the issue of getting salsa to stay on your chip??), I fell in love. I knew that this would be a rocking bowl to eat soup and smoothies out of, but also to have in my cabinet for parties! Just let me know if you need a salsa gal… well bowl I can supply the bowl… although I was a Chiquita banana girl at one time… I will look into a salsa girl costume.

We won the boat parade there… fun times πŸ™‚ Anyways… smoothie bowl rocks and I am excited about having a couple new bowls!

In that smoothie I had (in the order I put it in the blender):
3/4 cup water
1/2 banana
140 grams frozen fruit
1 scoop protein
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/4 teaspoon spirulina
1/2 tablespoon cacao powder
1 teaspoon maca powder
1 egg (omit this if your eggs aren’t organic or farm fresh or if it just freaks ya out)
3/4 cups water

Smoothie 101:
This smoothie has healing powers… I usually have this or a variation of 5-6 days a week. The key to this smoothie being, well smooth, is the order of ingredients! David is the smoothie king and has taught me some of his ways and revealed some of his secrets… order of ingredients being on of them.
Please watch the following video to lead into the next tip…Β Despicable Me

Fluffy Factor:Β I love that part… and the movie! Okay… fluffy factor! By adding a little banana, not for taste but for fluffiness, it will give your smoothie a whipped like texture. Last one I will reveal today… an egg. It seriously adds a whole new level of fluffiness (how many times can I add fluffiness into this paragraph?!?!) to your smoothie… be brave (in an organic or farm fresh kind of way).

Another new look… in bowl form…

It could be a pot pie dish or mini pie dish… or in this case, a grapefruit dish πŸ™‚ I love grapefruit… this time I added a tiny drizzle of melted raw honey, but normally I just have it plain. And as you can see in the back… I have been drinking green tea this week! I am trying to ward off any sickness since I will be traveling again on Monday (New York bound Monday morning). I hope the weekend is filled with happy things and maybe a spicy entrΓ©e πŸ™‚

My flowers are blooming… pink, yellow, and even some coral/orange flowers are in bloom πŸ˜‰

I am currently on my 2nd cup of coffee… This weekend (I am actually in Tuscaloosa!!) preparing/tweaking my presentation, cleaning (LOTS of this, it makes me happy), and packing up for NYC. Tomorrow will be another round of “practice presentations” so we will be ready to rock and roll Tuesday πŸ™‚ I am super pumped because our hotel that we are staying at in NYC is within 2 minutes of Dean & Deluca! Y’all know how I feel about macarons!

Crossfit update- I am sore today!! Great WODs this week, but I am a bit bummed… we had a Crossfit event today that I am having to skip out on due to the school work happenings πŸ™ I wanted to compete… and it is for the March of Dimes (Garage Games series) which is very cool! Next time for sure πŸ™‚

Happy weekend,
